The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as improving the quality of life for children and adults affected by these chronic intestinal diseases. CCFA is at the forefront of medical research in IBD, playing a role in every major scientific breakthrough, from generating data that leads to new therapies to the discovery of the first gene for Crohn's disease. The Foundation also sponsors a wide range of educational programs for patients and health-care professionals, and provides supportive services to help people affected by IBD. As CCFA is not a government-supported agency, these programs are supported solely by contributions from members and donors.

Back in the saddle again...

So much has happened since my last post...I have not been updating my blog, because I have not trained since the beginning of October. Unfortunately, I got sick with the flu at that time, and then had a colitis flare-up. I nearly dropped out of the race, but the support of family, friends, and my trainers has inspired me to stick with it. I am recovering well, and should be back in training next week.
I officially committed to the race this week, turned in all of my paperwork for travel, etc. At this point, I cannot turn back (really, they have my credit card number now). I'm eager to get back to running...I'm also stepping up my fundraising game, as this seems to be the area I am struggling most in. With less than one month til the fundraising deadline, I have met only about 10% of my goal. I have some plans in the works to help bring this number up, but please help me by forwarding my blog and fundraising links to everyone you know. Over one million Americans are affected by IBD, so you never know who may be sympathetic and in a position to help.
Less than six weeks until Race Day!!
